We all want to feel good and I truly believe, as humans we’re meant to. Life is meant to be an amazing experience and adventure.

When we’re happy and relaxed, there’s no better feeling. We’re inspired, creative and intuitive. Opportunities present themselves and life seems to flow with more ease and joy.

In today’s society, many of us have become trapped in the mindset that life must be hard to achieve success, or anything meaningful. We’re taught to struggle and push on through to the other side.

Many of us wind up burnt out, exhausted, unhappy and disillusioned.

As a self-confessed perfectionist, much to my own detriment, I’ve been on the receiving end of severe burn-out coupled with anxiety on three occasions. Each time was gradually a little scarier than the last.  My first episode was in 2002 following emergency surgery and this was when I first began my personal development / spiritual journey. I would devour every book I could read and sample and experience different healing modalities.  I truly think it’s a life long journey.  Who doesn’t want to experience life as fully and joyously as possible? living to their full potential.

In 2015 I experienced my third burn-out and this is when I had my biggest lightbulb moment to date. I discovered Strala Yoga and it changed EVERYTHING for me.

My biggest revelation was learning that to feel good and achieve success and fulfilment, it actually works the opposite way.

We do our best work when we’re relaxed and feel good.

We’re more creative, intuitive and achieve way more success. Plus the journey feels a whole lot better every step of the way. You can not follow an unpleasant path and get to where you want to be.

When I started to make feeling good my priority above anything or anyone else, everything began to click and flow.

I thought my business would fall apart, or my family would suffer but it was the opposite. As I thrived, my loved ones thrived and my business thrived. New opportunities flowed and opened up for travel, experiences and meeting new people. I began to feel more alive and expansive than I ever have in my life.

When we’re bathed in stress hormones it hinders our abilities and success. We’re less able to see options available to us, less creative and intuitive and more prone to physical health problems, such as injury, disease and other stress related disorders.

So how do we get to our happy place?

What I know for sure is you can’t think your way there. It’s all about ‘The feel’. Getting out of our own way and out of our own heads.

The best way to access the mind is through the body and this is where Strala yoga comes in.

Strala Yoga founder Tara Stiles, my mentor explains it beautifully.

Everything is interconnected. How we are in our body is how we are in our life. If we can change the way we move we can change the way we live. Strala is all about ease. The movements are very natural like flowing water fuelled by our breath. This allows space in the body and mind to accomplish challenge with ease. Moving like water on your mat is like stress training for life.

The Strala practice of moving with ease puts you in the centre process of self-care. You move how it feels good and linger where it feels good to linger, giving you space to rest. You’re encouraged to explore your own mind body connection, so you sensitise and feel in to what you truly need.
This level of presence and fluidity lets you tap in to your intuition, enabling you to realise what you need in advance, turning on your body’s natural relaxation response.

This helps you recharge, repair and heal.

Keep practicing and you can expect:

  • Higher confidence levels
  • Heightened creativity
  • Improved connection to self

After training in New York City and Berlin last year I’m bringing Strala to my home town of Halifax.

Classes will be run as a 4 week block course on a Monday and Thursday evening 6.30 – 7.30 pm.

You may have seen that I’ve recently run two free taster sessions, which have been well received.

Initial introduction will be a ‘relax’ class. Eventually I will introduce other types of classes such as; energise, gentle and strong classes.

I’m also running 1 to 1 private sessions.
